Hastings Bonfire

November 5th is an annual celebration of the foiling of the "gunpowder plot", when Guido Fawkes attempted to blow up the houses of parliament in Westminster, London in 1605.

Hastings Borough Bonfire Society hold their bonfire close to the anniversary of the Battle of Hastings in mid October, and it is known as the first of the bonfire season in East Sussex, with most bonfire societies available to attend.
